MORTGAGE Assistance

Part of the Illinois Housing Development Authority program - have programs to both prevent foreclosure and for potential new homeowners needing assistance

And/or contact a FREE local area housing counselor - Housing counselors can help you understand your options if you are having trouble paying your mortgage. They can communicate with your mortgage lender or service on your behalf and help you find legal representation if necessary. Counselors can also help you create a budget to manage your expenses and possibly stay in your home.

Rental Housing Assistance

Renters more than 30 days delinquent in rent and with income levels below 125% of the poverty level may be eligible for up to $500 per year in benefits.  Applicants are required to take a certified renters class.



Daybreak Center

Daybreak Shelter operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and provides emergency housing, and supportive services including rent/mortgage assistance and assistance with utilities to individuals and families who are homeless. Some participants in the program are in need of short-term housing, as a result of a situational crisis. Others need support services as they work to reestablish permanent housing.

Homelessness prevention services are also provided to individuals and families who are at risk of losing their homes.
